Until recently, dental professionals were forced to use multiple CAD/CAM systems and be locked into one supplier with a particular product or brand. The introduction of CAD/CAM systems that generate or receive unrestricted open STL files was the first step in meeting dental labs’ need for increased flexibility and freedom. However, the end results were not always predictable because the production processes and workflows were spread over several manufacturers and/or pieces of equipment.
Today, the DWOS platform provides both flexibility and an efficient pathway, achieved through collaborative development and partnership programs with leading dental equipment and material providers. Dental Wings is proud to deliver a common dental platform where professionals have access to both an increased range of scanning and manufacturing technologies and greater choice of applications and dental materials.
The following are examples of collaborative efforts from which the Dental Wings users can benefit.
The Crown & Bridge module has an easy to use feature that enables users to directly input into DWOS intra-oral scans typically captured in clinical environments.

Dental Wings 3D scanners can be used to scan a wide variety of implant platforms. Such scans are digitally transferred to Astra Tech to design and manufacture the requested AtlantisTM patient-specific abutments.
Under the 3M ESPE’s SOI (Selective Open In) program, the Dental Wings systems (3Series, 5Series and 7Series) have been qualified by 3M ESPE to generate LavaTM compatible designs, which can be digitally sent to the ALMC (Authorized LavaTM Milling Centre) of choice.
